Thermal
counter by Irisys
Irisys’ market leading people
counting units detect the heat emitted by people passing in the area beneath
them as infrared radiation. Highly accurate, the units contain imaging optics,
sensor, signal processing and interfacing electronics all within a discreet and
compact moulded housing.
Two virtual counting lines are defined by an operator using a portable PC set-up
tool, and people are counted as they pass through each line in a defined
direction. Mounting heights between 2.5 and 4.5m (8 – 15ft.) can be accommodated
with the standard lens while other lens options are available to cover higher
mounting heights.
As there are no calibration or scene-specific set-up requirements, and the units
function as soon as they are mounted, systems can be installed very rapidly and
at relatively low cost.
The units may be used as single counting nodes in networks of up to 30 units, or
up to 8 units can be linked to span a wide opening. In this mode the system’s
embedded intelligence prevents possible multiple counting at the interface
between adjacent units and presents the counting data as if there is one counter
unit with an extra wide ‘footprint’.
